DESIGN APPROACH
Staggered masses shaping terraces and inward privacy
The villa at Zirad, Alibaug is conceived as an interplay of solid and void, with staggered masses and recessed planes negotiating scale and climate.
Deep terraces wrap the inner core in response to the tropical climate, while startegic planning ensures each bedroom deck retains privacy.
The front remains deliberately introverted, with the upper mass pulled back to form a deep terrace.
ARCHITECTURAL EXPRESSION
Layered horizontality opening toward water
A linear, transparent volume opens toward the pool’s reflective foreground, with deep overhangs forming protective thresholds against coastal rain while reinforcing a strong horizontal datum.
Upper blocks shift subtly to break volume, as living spaces extend outward. Smooth surfaces are punctuated by terracotta, introducing depth, contrast, and a layered material expression.

CONTROLLED POROSITY
Filtering light, air, and privacy through layers
Along the front, a slatted jali wraps the staircase block, filtering light into the vertical circulation and the courtyard beyond.
Set within staggered volumes, this calibrated layer mediates privacy and ventilation, allowing the architecture to balance openness, depth, and climatic response.
INTERIOR SPACES
Cohesive volumes shaped through material warmth.
LIVING, DINING & KITCHEN
Visual continuity with layered material warmth
The interiors unfold as a continuous volume, where living, dining, and kitchen spaces remain visually connected.
A restrained palette of stone, wood, and rattan anchors the spaces, while muted green cabinetry, a patterned dado, and crafted elements introduce warmth, texture, and subtle visual depth.

MASTER SUITE
Material continuity shaping a refined private retreat
Private spaces follow the same language with calibrated variations, where the master suite is defined by a four-poster bed within a restrained envelope.
A tactile palette extends into the bathroom through cane shutter fronts and warm wood tones, maintaining continuity within a minimal, cohesive shell.

DAUGHTER’S BEDROOM
A softer palette with expressive material layering
The daughter’s bedroom introduces a warmer tone through an upholstered bed, layered textiles, and subtle patterns, creating a relaxed yet refined private setting.
The bathroom connects to a private courtyard and features a circular mirror, handcrafted elements, patterned flooring, and woven lighting, maintaining continuity with the home’s calm material language.

FAMILY & GUEST SUITES
Understated comfort with material contrast
The remaining bedrooms adopt a simpler, quieter expression with low wooden beds, neutral upholstery, and soft textures that create a calm, understated environment.
Their bathrooms introduce contrast through terrazzo flooring, raw wood vanities, and framed views toward planted courts, adding depth within a restrained material palette.
